Frequently asked questions
Straight answers for safety, ops, and HR leads — structured as expandable sections (works without JavaScript).
01What is EXO’s role versus buying direct from a manufacturer?+
We’re your regional partner: we help you choose among Auxivo, Japet, and Hypershell based on tasks and environment, then coordinate demos, sizing, and follow-up in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba — so you’re not comparing spec sheets in a vacuum.
02Do passive exoskeletons need batteries or charging?+
No. Passive systems like the LiftSuit, DeltaSuit, and OmniSuit use elastic/textile mechanics — no motors or shift-long battery logistics. Powered options (Hypershell, Japet.W+) have their own run-time and charging profiles; we’ll spell those out for your roster.
03How long does a typical assessment or pilot take to set up?+
After your inquiry we usually respond within one business day. A first call clarifies tasks and headcount; on-site or virtual demos are scheduled from there. Pilots are often a few weeks, not months, before you decide on scale.
04Will an exoskeleton slow workers down or get in the way?+
Proper device-task matching matters. That’s why we emphasize trials: crews should feel support on the jobs they actually do, not generic showroom walks. If a unit doesn’t fit the workflow, we pivot to another line or configuration.
05What about sizing, laundry, and shared use on multiple shifts?+
Textile systems are adjustable and often washable per manufacturer guidance. Shared kits are common with a fit matrix and hygiene plan — we help you document that for EHS and supervision.
06Are these devices regulated or “medical” only?+
Some products are positioned as workplace job aids; others (e.g. Japet.W+) have regulatory status as medical devices in their markets. We’ll be explicit about claims, indications, and what belongs in occupational health vs. clinical pathways.
07What ROI story should we use internally?+
Leading indicators: perceived exertion, discomfort reports, and quality of movement in target tasks. Lagging: strain/sprain trends, lost-time patterns, and retention. We align metrics with your safety and ops language — not a one-size slide deck.
08Do you ship outside Western Canada?+
Our model is built for on-the-ground support in the four western provinces. If you’re elsewhere in Canada, we can often introduce you to the right channel partner rather than drop-ship without service.
